A Christmas Carol by Dickens. Then I'd go with Christmas books/magazines by Ideals.

One of the books I like to read to the children that come to see me, especially the younger ones is the Christmas Mouse, there is also a second Christmas Mouse story, but it is not as good as the original. Don't have the book with me, so I can't remember the author.

The House Without a Christmas Tree. Evidently there was an Addie Mills (main character) series of books. I got the book second hand and love it. It was my favorite book for many years.

I bought Chicken Soup for the Soul, Christmas a few months ago at Tractor Supply. Why they had it there was beyond me but it was marked 80% off so I snatched it up. I was waiting a little closer to Christmas before I start reading it.

I just finished "Eat, Drink & Be Merry; A Christmas Miscellany" by Susan Kelleher & Rene Rodgers. I thought I knew a lot about Christmas but this book pulled some new ones out of the hat for me.

I would say I would recommend The Annotated Christmas Carol. It has lots and lots of notes and tidbits of information in it that explains more in depth the times Dickens wrote the book in. It is surprisingly interesting on top of being an amazing tail.

Perhaps it's trite, but Dicken's A Christmas Carol tops my list, with The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus (L. Frank Baum) a close second.

First, welcome! Glad you joined us :grinn:

I had no idea L. Frank Baum had written the Santa book! As a child I read his Oz series of books. I'll have to find this, soon!

Once upon a time I found the entire Baum book online. Don't know if it still is, though....

Good call on both. Welcome to TC as well.

Baum's LandA of Santa Claus is also a long forgotten stop motion animated special adapted by Rankin Bass.

It's also available as a regular cartoon, but so far only on VHS.

So many to choose from, but since I have it memorized, I have to say "the night before Christmas".

It's really a poem, so does that count?

If not I think that 'olive the reindeer' is very good too.
